Today we have Kim Agee from downtown Melbourne. Welcome, hi. Good morning. We are going to go through the downtown Melbourne unwrapped, but first I want to recognize you as a local celebrity. Your family has been part of downtown I mean, can I say centuries, for centuries? Sure, yeah, long time, long time. So your dad and your uncles were a huge part of the downtown renovation way back when. Yes, and somehow you have landed yourself also to do the same thing.
Speaker 2:Yeah, How's it going? It's going great. Yeah, it's an incredible place to be, especially with the family history and them having started Me Hands in downtown Melbourne about 1961, but they've been attached to downtown Melbourne their entire lives and have buildings in downtown and it's just been a part of who I am and how I've grown up. And to land in this job has been pretty amazing. It kind of picked me. I didn't pick it, but I'm pretty passionate about it. I think I have some extra passion inside of me to drive through the hard parts but really just want what's best for downtown and our main focus is the revitalization of downtown Melbourne and just really helping the community and visitors understand what a special place it is and making those special opportunities for them to engage and come down and meet all the business owners and just have celebrations and fun nights out and shopping and all the great things and experiences that we have.
Speaker 1:That's what downtown is all about right. It's about the shops, it's about the fun, it's about getting out and about and, yes, I met a lot of the shop owners and they're all so sweet. Here we have a picture of you in downtown Melbourne. What are you three there? Yeah, so cute. What is that building behind you? The furniture store? What is it now?
Speaker 2:So that is actually Melbourne Court. So when you're heading west on New Haven, after you come off US 1 and you can take a fork in the road and go right on New Haven, or you can go left where Roots Tavern is and all of that right in there, and then you'll take the turn at Iron Oak Post and so it's right there.
Speaker 1:it's sort of the backside of Crush 11, right there at Campbell Park, oh, back where the wedding shop is.
Speaker 2:Yeah, not that far before that. Okay, cool, very cool.
Speaker 1:That's so cool. All right, well, let's just get started with downtown Melbourne unwrapped. Yeah, so we're gonna start with the gifts for him. So someone on your team went around and did all the shopping for us. Yeah, that was fun. They picked out stuff like this steam punk lamp, and you can get that at Strawbridge Art League. I've seen these on the windows. They're super cool. It's not just this one, right? They have a variety of them to choose from. Great for woodshop dad, just a quirky dad, or it doesn't even have to be a dad, it's for him, right.
Speaker 2:Yeah, it's super neat. They're so creative in there. Most of everything they have in there is uniquely made. They're artisans and you can really find some different things.
Speaker 1:Yeah, that's a one of a kind gift right there. Yeah, that's for sure they also have. They picked out Jack Black Body Wash set, and you can get that at Sandelis, sandelis, they have so much there too.
Speaker 2:I saw multiple men's set and they have a very large men's section in Sandelis.
Speaker 1:Go there, get your man smellin' good. That's the place to go. Customized insulated tumblers. I went into giftiques and they can customize anything for you.
Speaker 2:Yeah they do embroidery, they do etching. We have them do all the glasses for our Food and Wine festival. They said that so they thousands of glasses they etch for us. They can do the laser engraving on wood. They can do laser engraving on mugs and cups and they do sublimation too, like your mug over there, the DTMB mug. That's a sublimation from them that they've done for us. So they do journals and pins and ornaments and everything that's customized and they're really sweet in there.
Speaker 1:Yeah, very nice. It's a gift shop and beyond.

Speaker 1:OK, next we have the barrel pick whistle pig with smoker set, and that's from Megomallies. I think this is a good gift, not only for the receiver, but like then they're going to start cooking with this stuff.
Speaker 2:Yeah, they're going to make you some old fashions and all kinds of things.
Speaker 1:Yeah, so that'll be good for the whole family.

Speaker 2:So they go actually to the distilleries and they taste and they pick certain barrels. They're like I want that one and they find that barrel, that's yummy Of whiskey.

Speaker 2:Yes, it's like a Christmas miracle actually, so that would be great yeah and they have, like, all different kinds of teams. They do they have?
Speaker 1:It's a nice size, great for a little he-den, yeah, beautiful. So any of those gifts they would love, all right. Moving on to gifts for her so many, so many to choose from. I think guys are way harder to shock than girls are.
Speaker 2:No, jesse disagrees yeah, because you guys just get what you want when you want it and you don't like the frivolous things, and so it's definitely harder Women we like the frivolous things. You just want a nice t-shirt or something like that, not even.
Speaker 1:They're like give me socks. Yeah, you know Cigars, golf balls and whiskey. Yeah, there you go Some bourbon there, it is Good. But us ladies, we like a lavender aloe skin care from Nourish oh my god. A set for the new year, it makes sense. Oh yeah, you want to smell good. Well, everything in there is divine. You want to pamper yourself?
Speaker 2:When you walk by you can smell, yeah, all the beautiful things, all the beautiful nice botanical type smells that are from the other. Did you know that Nourish actually started in downtown Melbourne? No, but it's called Nourish Savannah, right. So she moved up in Savannah and it started expanding into the areas up in there, but not this particular location. They were actually on the north side of the street down a little bit further, right past Megomallies, when they started and I remember when she first started I used to buy soaps from her and she would make them in the back.
Speaker 2:Yeah, she started, she was manufacturing there and everything. Yeah, fascinating.
Speaker 1:I love it. I went in there and you get to try the stuff. Yeah, you get to wash your hands with it. It's fun. It's fun in there.
Speaker 2:And it's not overbearing. The smell is just really fresh and nice. Yeah, and you know you can do little gatherings and like little classes and stuff in the back. They have a back room. Oh, I didn't know that you can rent out.
Speaker 1:I love that some of the shops downtown do that.
Speaker 2:Yeah, because it's an experience to you. They can create an experience for you and your friends. Oh, I know.
Speaker 1:All right, the next gift comes from Recreations. Oh. Secret, we are going to unwrap it, let's unwrap this one.
Speaker 2:This one.
Speaker 1:Good, I love recreations. I can't step foot in there too much because I will spend my cash in there.
Speaker 2:So re recreations is upstairs and a lot of people don't know about it.
Speaker 1:Oh, it's a hidden gem. Any lady who loves her designer goods is going to love Recreations, if they don't know about it already look at. This is a mini Louis Vuitton bag. Get the Louis. I mean, all the ladies in town have the Louis. But this is Not only genuine, because I know a lot of ladies out there have their knockoffs. You're not gonna find any knockoffs at recreations.
Speaker 2:And how freaking cute is this right, gay has an eye, she knows, she really knows and she's got a lot of really good people that can sign with her.
Speaker 1:I know all her all her Girls are so helpful so yes we?
Speaker 1:yeah, oh, my god, I have to touch this. Yeah, any, any girl. This is a little lemon yellow bag. Any girl would love that. Yeah, it's so cute. It's so cute I like it that it's not the typical brown right. It's Amazing. Merry Christmas to her. Yes, I'll be taking this home, all right. Number three is the bitty bog bag. It's from coastal cloth baby. Yes, so we have your luxury bags, but this one is actually something that I mean you don't have to have a baby to use it. You can take this to the beach. Yeah, I can. I have one similar to it. I take it to my neighbor's house when we have wine night.
Speaker 1:Oh yeah, you know it's a sturdy bag, it's got holes in it. So Sam falls out and falls out. Good for the beach, good for all year round.
Speaker 2:Yeah, they have a lot of different sizes, from the tiny little ones to like very large.
Speaker 1:Yeah, it's that you can, and there are material that's. Is it rubber?
Speaker 2:It's yeah it's a couple.
Speaker 1:Yeah, yeah, so you can colors, all different colors. Yeah.
Speaker 2:Yeah, it's really neat.
Speaker 1:Another thing that you might want to get her is spa services at body scape med spa. Yeah, it's your favorite spa service, so oh oh, facials.
Speaker 2:Yeah, facials, yeah, well, that too, but yeah, I'm all about the facials. If I could, my Christmas gift would be one every single month. Yeah, wouldn't that be great? All right, people get yeah. Body scapes is new to downtown and they're right off of oh, the street. That's one, one street, help me, jesse. One street now, one street North of Strawbridge, that next street that's over there behind the parking garage. And no north, not south, no too far anyway. Right, you can see it from Hotel Melby there right on the corner.
Speaker 2:Oh yeah, and super nice. It's super nice people in there and they're big supporters of of downtown Melbourne and Melbourne Main Street and all that we're doing and yeah, I love a good spa. Yeah, they have a little baby boutique in there too, so they have some clothes and stuff.
Speaker 1:Oh, wonderful, they do a lot of stuff, very good, all right. The next gift we have is the holiday gift box from Borden brush. So cute, oh my gosh.
Speaker 2:Yes so born in brushes, one of our top Experiences in downtown Melbourne where you can come in and make your own boards and, yeah, you get to pound things with hammers and. You know and paint and things like that, and even people like me that don't do this very well at all. This is not my thing. You come out with a perfect product, just like this, that they have a lot of stencils.
Speaker 1:Oh, so they made the hot cocoa box.
Speaker 2:So you can. Yeah, I think this box is pre-made, but you can do the big Signs and the holidays and that's all the different things.
Speaker 1:This is great for a woman because you don't have to plan anything. You know Like you're always trying to plan for the kids to do something.
Speaker 2:Yeah, give her this, and she got a teacher gift, or yes, things like that.
Speaker 1:Yeah, all right for your fashionista. You can go and get some dresses and accessories from tangled rows.
Speaker 2:Look at that cute outfit. It's the cutest and tangled road is roses, on the west end of New Haven Avenue, right near Cretamans.
Speaker 1:Oh yeah, very good, we always need places to shop.
Speaker 2:Yeah, they have they have awesome, awesome things shoes, dresses, pants. You know very good person and they'll help you. Lots of jewelry too.
Speaker 1:Oh really, yeah, good, good, good to know. All right that's where you're shopping for her. Yeah, all right. What about the kids? The kids need stuff too. I was pleased to see this on the list. It's a customized apron from giftique. My daughter got an apron from her grandmother and I was like, oh, that's kind of a cool gift, but I didn't realize how often she uses it now and she like invites her to the kitchen.
Speaker 1:So any kid that you know kind of loves, likes to cook or likes to be around you or has any interested in at all, I say, get on the apron. It's fun, yeah, and it'll stay out all year long.
Speaker 2:My daughter and I used to do an annual she's 20 now, but we used to do an annual gingerbread house party, oh my god. And so she would invite, invite friends over and we always did aprons. But we were doing iron-on and things like that. But you could easily have giftique, do custom Aprons and embroidery and people will have them, and somebody sent me a picture a few weeks ago of there. They still have theirs. Oh, really yeah, it's really well, I mean yeah.
Speaker 1:Yeah, it doesn't you don't wear it on the holidays exactly or you could just put their name on it and keep it in the kitchen.
Speaker 1:Yeah exactly very, very sweet. Yeah, lots of cool ideas there. Beanie babies from mean hands they're back. Beanie babies are back, I know, I know every single time my kids go in they're like I want that one in that one in that one, and you can never have too many. They're small well, yeah, you got to get one of those like stuffed animal bins. Yes, but I mean they, they love receiving them. Yeah, big, cute eyes, I mean they have adorable ones.
Speaker 2:I had a really hard time Choosing when we chose these to be in the photography. Yeah, cuz you chose good. Yeah and Dumbo there in the back.
Speaker 1:I know he's so cute. That's one Disney movie that needs to be recreated. Don't you think it is sad? But you know they they pot, you know they have, uh, the little mermaids back. Yeah, they just haven't done that one yet. Yeah, maybe it is too sad For these days. Maybe all right, number three, we're gonna unbox it. What is in there? This is a really good gift from gift cheek once again. When I saw this, I was like who made this? It's genius.
Speaker 2:We all know that some mother made this right.
Speaker 1:Yes, yeah out of necessity. That's what they said.
Speaker 2:They said Uh, you can't really get this anywhere else but it's like it's an activity scarf, so the mom puts it on when she's holding the baby and they can do all the different things, the little mirror and all the different textures and tags.
Speaker 1:You don't even need a pocket with a little surprise in here. Yep, yeah, so you can have baby on you and keep them entertained at the fuzzy little mirror Something going on in there too. It's so fun. I kind of want to get this for my friend Katie, who gets out of baby.
Speaker 1:Yeah, a little scrunchie for the sound, it's so cool and you just wear it, you don't need any extra thing. You could have the baby and it's super, super soft too, so cute, and it comes in lots of different colors. Yeah, this is just one of them. It's super neat. I love it. I really love that gift. Another gift you can get is a novelty lunchbox from mr Nice guys super fun store. Um, they come in different. I mean, this one is looks like a little amp.
Speaker 2:Yeah, a little fender amp. They also have a bob ross one. Oh really, it's totally hilarious, apparently, bob ross is really, he's back. He's really back now. Yeah, during the season I see him all the gift shops. Yeah, so nice man. It's kind of fun.
Speaker 1:Alright, and last but not least, the Bluebird service station. This you can get at Coastal Cloth Baby. It'll keep your kids entertained for a good amount of time. That thing looks fun.
Speaker 2:Yeah, it's awesome, it's nice and it's sturdy and all the pieces you know no choking hazards and all those things.
Speaker 1:Good, that's a really nice gift, very nice gift for the kids, alright, but what if you're entangled in a secret Santa, maybe with work or something? Let's give you some ideas. First off is the art expression kit. You can get this at me hands. I mean, I know not everybody's an artist, but we all could use that, even engineers. Yeah, they receive it. They'll bust it out when they need to, and have a great time with it.
Speaker 2:Just explore a little bit. Explore a little bit, I don't know.
Speaker 1:It doesn't matter if you're left brain or right brain. You should kind of explore that. Yeah, next up is Critter Cup, so you can get this at Creative Bazaar.

Speaker 2:Leave it to the artist to come up with fun things, right? Yeah, I love it Alright.
Speaker 1:Number three is an unwrap it. Do us the honors and show us what we should get our secret Santa. Oh, this is fun. These are Christmas themed planters from let's Plant it.
Speaker 2:What I love about this Okay.
Speaker 1:Look at this so you can put the themed. So we have a reindeer, a little snowman in there, a beautiful little Christmas tree, but when Christmas is over you just go back there and get new little things to put in there and you can have this all year round. It's so cute, they also have you know, these little mini guys Also super cute. What's?
Speaker 2:really really unique about. Let's Plant it like. They do have some of these that you can just walk in and grab for your secret Santa gifts or those people that are really hard to buy for, but you can go in and make it yourself. You pick your vessel, you pick your sand or dirt and your toppings which it wouldn't and this one is like these little white pebbles and some of the larger rocks and then you can plant whatever you want.
Speaker 1:Yeah, and you can pick it.
Speaker 2:These tend to be supplements in here, but they have like flowing, beautiful plants and all kinds of different pots and vessels that you can do things. They have the big geranium things that you can make too.
Speaker 1:Yeah, very beautiful vessels in there. Yes, it's really neat. My daughter loves it in there. She always wants to go. We get it for her friends too. They have really a great selection.

Speaker 1:Alright, speaking of experiences, that's next and we are going to unwrap the first experience. It's from Executive Cigar Shop and Lounge. Now, I went in there this weekend and I mean I wasn't expecting it to be so cool in there. I mean it is slick.
Speaker 1:It's high end. It's high end, it's just beautiful. So you can go there and have an experience, many experiences. But here we have a cigar from Winston Churchill, d'arnav, davanoff, davanoff. Thank you, jesse, thank you, and really it's a good one, oh, very good one. And then they also suggested a private barrel pick Pick here From Three Cord. Yes, who is Neil Geraldo is Pat Benetard's husband, so he makes this stuff and you can only get this kind exclusively at Executive Cigar Shop and Lounge. And this place isn't just for the guys. They have a Fierce Fumeras Women's Club that meets every second Wednesday of every month. They have other events for gentlemen and everybody I mean you got to be 18 and up right and they have a tasting room in the back.
Speaker 2:It's so neat. I actually actually asked me to come speak and give them, just like all things going on in downtown Melbourne, and I went one time. The ladies are lovely, very eclectic group, like everybody's welcome. I have to try that. I think they have some snacks and people smoke whatever cigars they want. They have discussions or super engaged. They're all learning something all the time when they come.
Speaker 1:So it's more than just cigars. It's like a women's club.
Speaker 2:It's definitely fellowship and they're just learning stuff all the time.
Speaker 1:I love that Super neat. I'll have to try that. This is a single barrel bourbon. Yes.
Speaker 2:So this is a special barrel pick for them.
Speaker 1:Amazing, and that's a dual flame lighter, which is very fancy. These are the type of gifts that, like you, wouldn't buy yourself, but if you got it as a gift, I mean it's luxury every time.
Speaker 2:Exactly, it's lovely, it's heavy too, like it's got some substance to it.
Speaker 1:A nice design. But if cigars aren't their thing, maybe they want to go to the Henniger Center, and they have a lot of good stuff playing this upcoming year. Sound of music the Diana one as the bodyguard, I know right, what Wouldn't that be fun? They have the best shows they.
Speaker 2:Dominic has has done such an incredible job. He and his board and his team have just completely reimagining the Henniger Center and if you haven't been in the last two years, I want to go you really need to make a chance, you know. Make it, make a concerted effort to go. They are selling out all their shows. They usually have to add a couple because of the demand. That was not the case when Dominic came in and they were kind of struggling, but he's turned this around and it's just pure talent.
Speaker 2:It is the execution and the sound and the visuals and they've got a lot of new seating and they've done a lot of renovations. They're really investing in this and I believe that they're one of the main attractions in downtown Melbourne. That is really driving a lot of people coming down there, so I'm excited.
Speaker 1:I'm definitely wanting to catch a show and I want to take my daughter there. I think it'd be good for like a high school, or two, you know absolutely Some little culture in their lives. Yeah, number three is backwater.
Speaker 2:I mean. I love waffles.
Speaker 1:There's always a line because it's so popular and it's so fun to cook the pancakes in front of you and their food, whether you're doing the pancakes or not it's phenomenal. Yeah, it's delicious.
Speaker 2:Have you ever had the Gator gumbo?
Speaker 1:I don't think I have.
Speaker 2:Oh, should I get that? It's a. It's a big bowl of gumbo but it has fried Gator tail in it. I don't need a lot of fried stuff, but like this is really this is something you have to have. All right, I'm going to try that.
Speaker 1:Yeah.
Speaker 2:Well, they have the Gator and waffles too.
Speaker 1:Yeah, oh yeah, I haven't had that one. They don't do chicken, they do Gator. Yeah.
Speaker 2:Yeah, everything in there is interesting.
Speaker 1:That's an experience if you've never had a total experience, and the kids can make whatever kind of pancakes. They give you a little squeezy bottle and you can make smiley faces or Mickey Mouse or a Gator.
Speaker 2:whatever you want to do on the griddle, Cook it yourself. Fun experience for sure.
Speaker 1:Ok, last but not least, we have bored and brush. You were telling us about how fun this place can be. It looks fun. Yeah, super, it will guide you to do like a really good job. If you're not, yeah, you can't mess up. You can't mess up, you just can't.
Speaker 2:Yeah, it's super. It's super fun. A lot of people do it. We know real leaders they have. They come in and do them and they give gifts when they have people buy homes like a welcome welcome to the whatever Good idea. Families home Like there's all kinds of different ideas. They have all different kinds of workshops all the time. At graduation time they have like they have these long boards that you set by your front door.
Speaker 2:that has like my senior and then has the school on them, so all kinds of unique really neat. I actually made a front mat for my door and my front door is not made of wood, but it's made of like a. You know the rug in front of your front door. It's like that straw the math yeah, and I painted it and did all the stuff and it came out great. The whole thing of good stencils to help you out, that's fun.
Speaker 1:So they have everything you need. All you have to do is show up and make something beautiful, lovely. That was Downtown Melbourne's Unwrapped, but I actually took it upon myself to go down there this past weekend because, as wonderful as this list is, we have friends and they're all unique. So, I thought we could play the 12 Friends of Christmas. Oh fun, all right. And what I think we should do is give shoutouts to our personal friends to say, hey, I would like to give that to you, because it's the thought that counts.

Speaker 1:I would probably give that to my friend Lindsay. She's not totally creative, but if you hand her something she'll want to play with it.

Speaker 1:Yeah, number two would be your music buff or your music lover. I saw these cute little ducks at Giftique. They have star tips.

Speaker 2:Bowie yeah, so if you have a friend that has a jeep, you can duck them. Oh, really Cool, you can leave the duck on them.
Speaker 1:I would give one of these. I'd put this in, maybe Shargoods stocking stuff. She'd love it. She would love it. Ok, the next is for your hostess Do you have any hostesses? In mind. Yes, this one is a peppermint bark recipe and it comes with a talon scoop set. I thought that was cute.

Speaker 1:Yes, a lot. And then finally, maybe a wine stain remover from Giftique. We all spill the wine. We need to remove it. This should be in every stocking.

Speaker 1:So I would give these gifts to, maybe, my friends Sarah or Tammy. They're always hosting, they're always on top of their game. Good to go, OK. So next is the Swiftie fan. I found this Taylor Swift coloring book at mehands. That would be a great stocking stuffer for the Swifties.
Speaker 2:Yeah, yes, I didn't know they had those. Oh yeah.
Speaker 1:I saw those. My girls went through a small Swiftie phase, but then I was like you can't play that music in my house anymore and they kind of forgot about her.
Speaker 2:They do ruin it for us. Oh, they ruin it.
Speaker 1:Let me listen to it again. I'm like I can't.
Speaker 2:Yeah, my daughter and I went to many Taylor Swift concerts.
Speaker 1:Oh really, oh yeah, for a while. This is a nice, quiet Taylor Swift activity, so that'll be good. But what about your gothic friend?

Speaker 1:On the dark side I found these stackable skeleton cups and these are at the creative, bizarre, creative, bizarre. Yes, yeah, I might give this to my friend Tracy's daughter, nila. She's kind of edgy and cool.

Speaker 1:No one else would have that and you can have your friends over what Four friends over? Have a nice time, yeah.
Speaker 2:Yeah.
Speaker 1:All right. What about our funny friend? Do you have any funny friends? Yeah, I have funny friends.
Speaker 2:Most of my friends are funny. This I have on my camera roll. Oh, just so you know, I took a picture of that too. Yes, and I was walking Santa around a couple of weekends ago. How can you not?
Speaker 1:So your funny friend will be wearing this to the beach. If you get it for her, I would give this to my friend Bridget.

Speaker 2:like a cruise. I'm going on a cruise the first week of February. I'm thinking about maybe, maybe wearing that Just coming out there's like 10 of us and I'll just show up at the pool like that and the same thing or. Jesse, maybe they have that in your sights.
Speaker 1:Well, for the guys I picked out, there's this really funny t-shirt at Mr Nice Guys, boats and Hose, referencing that wonderful movie.

Speaker 1:Yeah, and these come in green and red sleeves. They're hilarious. Or you can just get them. This little Dick in the box, santa ornament. Hello, okay, you're going to get a laugh, something for everyone, something for everyone in downtown.
Speaker 1:Melbourne. What about your loud and feisty friend? Oh yes, this is the bitch. I will throw your ass in the trunk and help them search for you. Don't test me. It's a pouch. She's got lots of pouches in there at creative Bazaar. I would give this to my friend, nicole D. She would love that. Nicole, she'd put it to good use. Yes, I like it. She would whip it out. Okay, but what if you have a romantic friend? I love these little heart shaped plants at the let's Plantit store.
Speaker 1:They're so cute. They look like hearts and again you can put them in a little vessel of your choice. They're amazing.
Speaker 2:We could also get that for Valentine's Day too, if you already have your presents. Yeah, yeah.
Speaker 1:Christmas Totally. That'd be cute Totally. Or you can go to creative Bazaar again, and they have. Well, they have Kyle's artwork there. I saw these little rose paintings that he did, which I thought were super cute, but they also have some vintage in the back that I love. This velvet vest would be cute or, you know, a beautiful yellow gown, yeah there's always something special in the back room there and I picked out a manual on Garo shirt there.
Speaker 2:Wow yeah.
Speaker 1:So I got lucky there. I took it. But there's really cute stuff in the back and then, yeah, kyle's there to paint the inventory.
Speaker 2:There is always changing, so you never know what you're going to find. Yeah, it's super fun.
Speaker 1:Yeah, Okay. But what if you have a like a spiritual kind of? Person in your life. Oh, this is actually. This is from Betty's antique. It's for your romantic person. They have really great selection of vintage bags. I love this velvet one, that hair piece.
Speaker 2:I'm just going to say that is where do?
Speaker 1:you get that very vintage. Yeah, you get that at Betty's antiques and they had some very beautiful like glass perfume holders. I mean, if you go in there and you mine for things, you can find really good gifts for your romantic friend, all right, but next is your spiritual friend. You're a witchy woman. I saw at Jessups, I mean, that ring, it's moon stars. It's a beautiful ring. But what I also noticed is they have a full wall of salt lamps.
Speaker 2:Yes, and all sizes and shapes, all sizes.
Speaker 1:All shape. Did you see the bunnies?
Speaker 2:and stuff. Yeah, they make them the bunnies. Yeah, they do have very, very large ones.
Speaker 1:Yeah, so I was like, wow, I didn't think that I would find this at the jewelry store.
Speaker 2:But there it is.
Speaker 1:Yeah, they've got jewelry and gifts. Yes, yes, I got my my 10 year anniversary ring there, nice or you can go to Mr Nice guys and I saw this top Mm, hmm, they also have it with bottoms, but this top was super cute. Sun moon you know that, vibe Um. And then one more from creative and bizarre. There's this crystal ball there on this, like really weird iron stand that I thought like what a unique gift. Do you have a friend that could use that? Um, I would give that. I'd like give that to um, danielle, maybe, or my mom, she's kind of into that stuff.
Speaker 1:She's got some powers. Yeah. Yeah, danielle, over at Derek's cause I know she talks to me about that stuff or, um, my mom definitely Lace, um, okay, but we all have the fashionista friend, and if you can't afford the Louis Vuitton, you might want to go to downtown divas. Here are some of the picks that I chose. That bow dress would be wonderful for New Year's. Yes, um, cropped sweater it's kind of chilly out these days. Those sandals are amazing. I kind of want them. Um. And then they have that really cute uh basket bag. Uh, it's on a top shelf so you have to look high to see it, but a bunch of cute stuff. I mean, everything in there is so cute.
Speaker 2:Yes, so you can wear it on trend.
Speaker 1:On trend. You can wear it for a night out or um holiday, every day holiday parties.
Speaker 1:I would, I would. I would give something to my friend Lena from here. She's a fashion girl. Um then I would go back to Betty's antiques for a weird hat. I really want this crocodile purse. If anybody's listening, it's, it's real crocodile and it's vintage and it's beautiful. And they had this display of little glass shoes. I mean, it's a trinket tray, right? Yeah? So all bunch of different colors here. Um, I think any fashion girl would love any of these gifts. Super unique.
Speaker 2:Yes, yeah, yeah, you can't find that anywhere else.
Speaker 1:You're not going to find that anywhere else. Um, and then you can go over to send dollars and get, let's see. Oh, this nail polish I love because it's non-toxic.
Speaker 1:I stopped buying, like OPIs and stuff like that when I realized how much toxic uh chemicals were in there. This one is non-toxic. Nice, I would get them in every color. They have a really nice array of colors there. Um, yeah, and you can get that at send dollars. It's good for if you have kids. You know, I don't want my kid to use the toxic stuff. So right, any mom, any mom with kids, this is a place to go. Um, but what if you had a cannabis connoisseur in your life? I mean, now that you can get a license for that? There's many out there and so let's plant it.
Speaker 1:They have this pot head pot which I thought was really cute.
Speaker 2:Literally something for everyone in downtown.
Speaker 1:Yes, Everyone um, you can go to Mr Nice guys and get a hand blown piece. My favorite is from glass to mouth. He makes these really cool looking. Jellyfish uh things or the ice molds are fun, but what's funnier is this they have a grandpa and grandpa, grandpa and grandma mug that you could also smoke out of, so it's like a waken bake gift. Oh well, there it is. There it is. I couldn't believe when I saw it, but hey, it's perfect.
Speaker 2:We all need something like that Sometimes they do have live glass blowing shop in the back now, so they're making a lot of stuff.
Speaker 1:It's fun. It is super fun to watch. So go in there, yeah, take a look, um. And then, finally, our 12th friend is the pet lover. So these are from let's plant it. They have funny cat and dog planters and, again, you can put whatever plant you want, that'll fit in there. Um, I have from me hands. They have these great little coloring books, um, for, yeah, you can learn how to draw dogs and puppies. My daughter would love that. Or you can just draw on these little coloring kits on top of the lovey. You can personalize your lovey with some markers. And then there's the cardinal. Um, my husband grew up on cardinal drive, okay, and so did my best friend. So I thought what a great gift that would be for all the people that grew up on cardinal drive down there Jamie and Kyle, that's awesome.
Speaker 2:I think that they would love that. That's a neat idea.
Speaker 1:Yes. And then finally, one more pet lovers gift Um, peas when excited, uh dog tag. I think my dog needs that cause. Every time someone comes and I pet her she'll pee a little bit, but that's what dogs do, right? Um, a fine little coloring book. And At Creative Bazaar they have these funny photos that they put the pets the the dog or cat's head on a vintage photo.

Speaker 1:I mean, any pet lover would get out of that, I think. So that is our 12 Friends of Christmas.

Speaker 1:Yes, it was fun to go shopping, aww. So now, people of Melbourne and beyond, you have all you need to get your shopping done, because we're on the clock now, right we are. How many days till Christmas? 12. Not many days of.
Speaker 2:Christmas 12. So this weekend we're cutting it down 12? 12.
Speaker 1:12 to 12 day of Christmas, my true love gift to me. Yes, yes. And we have our last night of Candlelight Shopping this Saturday we have all kinds of entertainment.
Speaker 2:You mentioned Shargid. She's going to be performing in the legallery area which is just right near Vernon Place off New Haven and that's where Strawberry Jart League is and Creative Bazaar. So yeah, go say hi to Shar.
Speaker 2:And then we have all kinds of other strolling carolers and entertainers all throughout downtown and so there's something going on all over the place and some of the shops have hired musicians to play within their businesses and, yeah, we've got a lot of really cool stuff happening, and all the stores will be open till at least 8 o'clock, so Candlelight Shopping is from 4 to 8. Okay, and some of them and some of the nights has been so busy. I know one of them had their last customer at 9.40 pm. They're willing to stay open and help you. You know, select that perfect gift for you too.
Speaker 2:And then all the shops will be open all the way through the following Saturday, and, you know, until right before Christmas. Perfect, yeah. So do it sooner than later, but you'll have a little bit of time left, and I think what's most important is, when you shop local, you're really helping local families. Yeah, almost every single thing in downtown Melbourne is locally owned, and it really, really, really makes a difference. This is their season. This is the time that carries them through the.
Speaker 2:You know the hot summer months, when people aren't coming out as much, and things like that. And so please, please, please, think about shopping local, yeah. It may take you a little bit more time to do that, but there's tons of parking in the parking garage. It's 400 steps from the parking garage to New Haven Avenue. It's nothing yeah.
Speaker 1:And we've made it really easy for you. You can watch this pick what you need and just zip and go yeah.
Speaker 2:And I do want to give a shout out to all the restaurants and the bars too, because it's you know, it's definitely a celebratory season. Lots of people are having parties and just gathering together families in town. So, even if it's right after Christmas, make sure you think of downtown Melbourne for that.
Speaker 1:Absolutely.
Speaker 2:Cocktail or just gathering with friends and family if you've come home or Do you know if anybody's having like a New Year's celebration.
Speaker 1:Yeah, Hurricane Creek.
Speaker 2:They shut down Vernon and they have a concert, a free concert, really, yeah, it's the ringing of country music artist in that they do every year and they blow it out and it's really fun, cool, really really fun. So yeah, Amazing. Lots going on and I know a lot of the other establishments will be doing things too, and Maggs will be there. They always put on a good time. Yeah, they do. You know, pub Americana, whitz frozen custard Like if you don't know what to get for stocking stuffers.
Speaker 2:I don't know if you guys have tried it, they're brand new in downtown no no, tell us you may never eat ice cream again if you have Whitz frozen custard. I there's, you can't even describe it. Okay, it's creamier and it's oh, it is a real frozen custard. Apparently this comes from the north. I don't know. I'm a native Melbourne person, so like I don't know these things, but it's ridiculous.
Speaker 2:And they have all kinds of toppings and they have a different flavor. Is it once a week or every day, I can't remember? But, and they have to go cakes, and they have to go containers too. You want to get the fresh stuff right out of it and put you pick your toppings, and oh my goodness.
Speaker 1:Where are they located? So they're right by gift, oh, okay 11, like right in there, perfect oh yeah, yeah, all right. Well, thank you, kim, for coming on the show. This was super fun.
